Individual therapy sessions are often seen as the most traditional form of treatment involving weekly one-on-one meetings with a therapist. Sessions are typically 45-minutes long and are held at the same time and day each week. These sessions may take place in person (at our Upper West Side office) or on Zoom. When deemed necessary, in-home services can be arranged.
For individuals in need of a higher level of care (e.g., those who need more than once-weekly meetings, those waiting for an inpatient or intensive outpatient placement, or those recently discharging from an inpatient or intensive outpatient placement), intensive individual therapy may be indicated. During intensive therapy, individuals may meet two to four times per week with a therapist. After a short period of time (typically several weeks), as symptoms improve and gains are stabilized, treatment is tapered to a more traditional individual therapy level.
Do you struggle to be the kind of parent you desire to be? Parent management training can help you gain the skills and tools that you need to parent more effectively. Meetings are typically held weekly and the format may vary from individual sessions, sessions with you and your co-parent, or sessions with all family members present.
As part of a holistic treatment plan, I collaborate regularly with other key providers in a patient's life. Depending on an individual's needs, this may include physicians, psychiatrists, educators and school personnel, nutritionists, and other people that support day-to-day life.
I also provide consultation to other professionals to help them better understand the psychological underpinnings of their work and optimize their effectiveness in their professional setting.
